One of the things I really like about the C4 Corvette, is that they are very unassuming. What I mean by that is, they are not a flashy, in your face, hi-performance sport car. However, I think they are really a wolf in sheep's clothing. I drove my Vette to work a few years ago to show the guys at the shop my new project. One of the guys has an early 60s Falcon with a Boss 302 engine, another building a 57 Chevy and a friend working on several Fox body Mustangs. I was amazed that they were amazed to see the aluminum alloy suspension, tilt front hood, large brake rotors and to see all engine components from the fire wall to the radiator. Well heck, I starting feeling really proud of my latest project. One guy even mentioned about how wide the front and rear tires were and asked if they were after market. I was showing them, if you remove the inner fender splash panels, you can work on the engine or spark plugs right down to the frame pretty much unobstructed. I remember years ago during the muscle cars era in the 60s and 70s, a car or hot rod with a one piece tilt front end was a serious tricked out item. It goes to show you how people just don't give the C4 Vette a second close look at the really nice features these cars offer. Very unassuming.

I too bought an '88 in 2006. I now have 250k miles on it. Since I bought her, I had the Florida sunburned stock "burple" painted a metal flake robin egg blue. Remanned the engine and while out of the hole, renewed everything forward of the firewall; ball joints, rack-pinion, master cylinder and lines, all pumps, put a three row Champion radiator with new a/c condenser, "9" new injectors and 50,000 volt coil. Even new head lamp motors. 4" Magnaflow with big cat-back. Since I've owned her, I have personally rebuilt the digital dash couple times. A daily driver, the car turns heads at local shows. Disrespected and under appreciated, I love my C4. It's a blast to tool around town in and get me on the Florida Turnpike? Whoo Hoo!! Treat them right boys and girls and it will bring you home every time. This car will be my sarcophagus.

I have had my '94 C4 for a little over 6 years and she not has 186K on her. The only people you have ever said anything in anyway of a negative comment about my C4 are other C4 owner that are proud of the fact that they only have 15k - 27K on their C4s. I have been told that is to bad that I have so may miles on my girl, my response is usually "We all see different thing of value in our Corvette" inside I'm thing Gee what a twit, get you C4 out and enjoy the drive. The have their trophies from sitting around a parking lot at a Car Show, I've got the memories and pictures on my girl at the NCM, Track at NCM & Daytona & Sebring, Tail of the Dragon, Etc. I would not trade the enjoyment of cursing down A1A with the top off Head to Key West for all the trophies out there.
If you go to the NCM and look at all the record holding Corvettes that are there you will notice and a lot of them (if not most) are C4s, so learn the history of the C4 Corvette and next time someone says something negative, smile and politely educate them as to the importance of the C4 and it's place in Corvette history.
The other thing I would say if we as a group want to increase the value of the C4s then we need to get them out at the shows and talk about what great cars they are. Don't feel like people are looking down at you, anyone can buy a new C7 and drive it, it takes real talent and dedication the keep the great old girls tearing up the road.

I just want to say thank you to you americans for "giving away" your C4 Corvettes! Found this one last december ( 2016) on the Internet. For sale by a dealer.
Was looking for a low mileage coupe with the cool manual gear with overdrive. Looked up the dealer`s website and to my surprise these guys were selling
expensive Porsches, Aston Martins, Mercedes sportcars and so on....and this cheap Vette below 10k. Found it to be really strange! I called them and tried to ask some
questions in Norwegian English, but the seller did not say much. Just that everything worked and that the car was really nice. "And it is 30 years old"- then he laughed.

I asked them to take some pictures of the underside at different places and so they did and mailed them to me. Then I realized that the 33k miles simply must be true.
The Carfax report I ordered told me the same. I decided to take the chance and transfer my savings to them. This is not the first time I do this, but have not lost
any money, perhaps due to pure luck. I can`t imagine that I`m going to risk this again with another car.

The Vette arrived in february ( 2017)and was so dirty after the long transport that it was hard to see what it was made of. I noticed the nice interior and the rest looked
good under all the dirt. Had to drive it a few metres to the garage and I did noticed that the steering was so quick...is it a Z51 performance package option? I just had to find out
,but could not find the codes anywhere where they should have been. Contacted the Corvette Museum and they sent me a complete build sheet. It had the Z51 option
and many other cool things too! I felt I won the lottery and maybe I did because I found out that only little above 1500 Vettes had been delivered whith this opion in 87.
How may of these are still alive and in good condition? Then I also understood why the rims are painted black in center. Those are 9,5 inch wide Z51 wheels :-)
When the dirt was removed it turned out to have the original paint in very very nice condition. Some people don`t believe me when I tell them so I have to show
them close up and explain.

The Corvette drives like a sports car should and it is great fun to drive. I`m old school.( 63 ).. I have owned many american cars during the years and these are now
worth twice or more the value of this Corvette. I just just can`t understand todays value of a 65 Mustang as an example...they are nice cars but still...
I like my 87 Vette with flip front much better...far better!

Hope you understood Norwegian English :-)

After looking it over, changing oil and many other things my wife and me took it for a journey to the vestern part of Norway this summer.
( Where the fjords are )
Around 430 miles without any problems at all. A blast to drive and very reliable. No problem to get the luggage stored in this hatchback either.
Promised to my wife at the beginning of this project that I would buy a low mileage American car this time and take it for a longer trip next summer and
I managed to keep my promise :-) ( Imported a c3 Corvette in 2004 but that car needed tons of work and we never tok it for a longer trip.)

Well done Guys & Gals, here in Australia the prices are low also, so what I like mine more every year. I have had it for approx. 15 years & will have a lot longer also. I agree with previous comments, it is a classic shape which I think the C7 has lost.
There have been many posts on this topic. Other forums have discussed it extensively. I don't care what the value "experts" say about the C4, I believe it is undervalued. Of course, some of these C4s have been "driven hard and put away wet", but for those on this forum, I believe we have some well maintained Corvettes.
I recently detailed my '86 Coupe, took the top off and did some driving. I received many complements from people who couldn't believe it was 30+ years old.
My suggestion: Ignore those who think C4s (especially the early ones) are not worth anything.
Enjoy the ride and relish the pleasure of owning a great sports car.
