Replaced my thermostat in my 96 ce, ran fine for about the time it took me to,run to parts store, then overheated and died in intersection, once it cooled back down it started and I got it home, I didn't fully drain cooling, just unhooked and put in new thermo and then ran and filled up tank with straight coolant, didn't lose more than a quart of fluid, 180 thermo, seemed to be opening and circulating ok, would. Too much straight coolant cause any kind of a issue??? Or maybe a air pocket in system????.... Gonna run it this morning and make sure system is circulating ok, ay. Ideas?????

Prolly got some air in it. It needs to be properly bled.
Also...why did you replace the t-stat? Was it running hot before, or not?
And....did any coolant spill down onto the opti-spark unit under the water pump? That could definitely ruin yer day if it did....
Open bleed valves, Fig. 22, on thermostat housing and throttle body prior to adding coolant. Add coolant through radiator surge tank opening until level is at base of tank neck. Close each bleed valve as solid flow of coolant is emitted from valve. Start engine and operate with surge tank cap removed until engine coolant level is maintained at base of surge tank neck. Add coolant as necessary, then install surge tank cap with arrows facing overflow tube. Fill coolant recovery reservoir to proper level. Start engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Turn engine off and allow to cool, then recheck coolant level.

Thanks for the info , I let it set for 2 days on. Charger, then bled the system properly, now ever thing. Seems to be working better, must have got some moisture in it, whEn I put code reader on it it isn't showing any fault codes at all now, plus now the thermostat is operating where it should.!!!!
