I am 29, maybe I don't fit the stereotype... Maybe I don't look like I have the income.... I have TWO C4's in my drive, mind you nice Vettes. I stop in to look at what they have in inventory. No one says a word to me, they make eye contact... BUT NO CONFIRMATION THAT I AM THERE TO DO BUSINESS. Any locals can keep that crap in mind.

Literally, my other car is a Corvette!
I am right up the road in Nashville and have never heard of Cooper's. I do a lot of my business over the internet with shops, Maybe you should buy more Corvette clothing like shirts, jackets, or hats... they might notice you then......

I am the kind of guy that puts my car buying money in a brown paper bag. If the business will not work with me in my work clothes (the way I make my money) they are not worthy of my money. I was dressed in a tan Dickies work shirt and blue jeans, I pulled up in a white Ford service van. If that doesn't show SOME kind of income, what does? A man might not be buying a 16,000 dollar car, but maybe an 800 dollar set of wheels.
customer service has gone to hell in this modern day. unless you drove up pushing a grocery cart, there's no excuse to ignore a customer. even then they should be polite.
to paraphrase the great Bruce Springsteen, they have no way of knowing whether or not you're a rich man in a poor man's shirt. there's a reason old sayings are old sayings and of course, they should not judge a book by its cover. I know, cuz I have my share of disposable $$$ but I dress like a bum!

my story is that I went to the local Chevy dealer (Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose) and told them I was interested in a 2004 Z06. They gave me the used car manager's card and promised me a follow-up, which naturaly never came. I'd heard a lot of bad things about them, but wanted to try them out, because they are so close, and it would be convenient to be able to take my Vette there for minor issues. so I figured an oil change and alignment was innocent enough... what could they screw up with that? well, they even managed to botch that!
they lost my appointment, then tried telling me all kinds of things are wrong with my Vette that I know for fact aren't (to the tune of around $1500 more that they wanted from my hard working wallet!) they said it would be 2 hours and then it took almost five hours... I guess it took them a lot of time to look for all the things they said were wrong with it that aren't. while the car was aligned fine, the steering wheel was just a degree or two off, to the right. they left greasy handprints all over the hood (front left where you hold it while dropping the hood back down) of my VERY clean Vette. while that easily wipes clean, did they think I'd appreciate that? they said one of my tires had a leak, so I immediately took it to the Goodyear shop and they couldn't find the leak.... on and on.
this was, literally, the first time I went there (and last.) do they seriously expect my business as a repeat customer? I even tried to go to their online survey they emailed me, but their web site kept crashing on me, so I doubt they even know how unhappy I am. I did get a follo-up call, which resulted in a voicemail for me... so I guess the ball is in my court. so much for customer service!
I'm not saying this is how they treat all their customers. but it did confirm what I'd heard.
