Hello, I am new to this form and asking for help in finding the problem with my vette. I just recently bought a 1990 Corvette ZR1 and it was running with no problems until a few weeks ago. I noticed it started missing a little like it needed a tune up but the vehicle now has 11,168 miles on it. It has been doing this for a few weeks now and was planning putting in new E3 Spark Plugs and checking the wires. As of tonight, prior to me getting to my house it really started running rough. Once in front of my house it got to the point where I thought I would not get it into my driveway to park it. Once I got into my driveway it started running so bad that it quite on me. I tried to start it again and it would not start but just crank and act like it was going to start. This is my first corvette and I know C4 Corvette do have some issues in running rough or stop running for some reason or another. It is acting like it doesn't have gas in it, but my gas gauge is showing near half a tank.
Any help in letting me know where to look and what to look for to figure out this problem would be VERY HELPFUL and I would be VERY GRATEFUL. Thank you in advance.

Did you check for water in the fuel?
Did the previous owner wash the engine or all under hood components?

I would start by checking fuel pressure. Classic symptoms of a fuel pump going south, imo.

Well; his car is 25y/o......so I guess you would need to check the "classic" symptoms........

ck for fuel/fuel press.even if press is good using fuel press gage at the fuel press regulator.could be bad regulator, could still be pump may not be strong enough for running the engine.same pump in all c4's in top of tank.pull it out and ck condition and the filter.ck your vehicle fuel filter.if not changed in awhile, could be restricted. if good ck for spark.sounds like fuel pump.never go by gas gage unless you know how much fuel YOU put in and then used.
my wife had the same problem (drove me nut for 6 months) I did all the things mentioned and much get more , anyway get a service check pipe to sub for the cats and try running it without the cats.
Check the fuel level with a wooden dowel rod. Get one from lowes like 5/16 thick or 8MM Senders go bad on these things. Then check F Pressure and spark.

If you're never out of control you're not driving fast enough
Injectors.. with 11K miles I assume they are original and cannot handle the ethanol
How long were you driving the car before it stopped running (in that one instance)
Keep in mind there are 2 fuel pumps on a ZR-1 both run at start up but then the secondary pump shuts off after sometime and the motor gets to a certain temp ( I forget the specifics)
I agree on the injector(s). Bought our '90 ZR-1 in the fall of 2006 with just 7,500 miles in the clock. In the spring of 2007 it developed a miss which turned out to be a bad injector. Since they were all original equipment I replaced all 16 of them while I had the plenum off. Has run like a top ever since.

Also agree that the ZR-1 Net Registry is a great place for info and assistance.
Good luck..!!!
