In another thread we were asked to tell how and why we bought a C4. Here I go...
After owning 2 C3s and Vetteless for 17 years I bought an 84 knowing nothing about them. A brother of a HS friend had a For Sale sign on his for months..$9500 Firm..This was in 1999. I offered $8,000 cash and the deal was done. That car was sweet and different. I had to sell when I lost my job and started dreaming of another. I finally landed a great job at a major gun manufacturer and met and married Kathy. She taught me more about the internet and how to use it so I started checking out Corvettes. She thought I was a little nuts, we could never afford one.
I found a picture of a 35th Anniversary and fell in love with it. I even went as far as framing a picture of one and hanging on the Living Room wall. She went along with it and even made wooden coasters with pictures of that Vette for the Coffee Table.
A few years (2) we were in a better house with land and I had an accident at work. Serious to everyone but me. I went back to work the next Monday and the Insursance Co. was generous.
I used my one good hand to search for a 35th and found one 400 miles away through Auto-Trader. With emails and our FAX I bought it sight - unseen and with the help from a friend trailered it home the next weekend. The only thing it needed was a cat back exaust and it passed inspection.
I still love it, no C5 or C6 for me. I am replacing parts as I can because they are 20 years old not because it needs them. It is a great car to own in an area of 4WD pick-ups. (We have a 4WD Blazer for winter and a Cavalier grocery getter).
I will be here almost every evening, I am getting so sick of the other forums. I will be in Bowling Green, Memorial Day weekend for a get together but the trip is really to Nashville so I will make a decision if I really want to associate with them when I meet them in person.
Thanks for this site and all who attend and contribute....Phil

Vette(s): 1985 Coupe-L98/Auto,Bright Red/Carmine.
1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
The 35th anny is one of my favorites of the C4 generation. The all white scheme with the black roof bow is just too kewl.
Congrats on your find, and thanks for sharing!

that's perseverance if i ever saw it.it's great that you have gotten the car you wanted and especially that your wife was backing you. my c3 was a 30th anniversary present from my wife and my c4 was a birthday present to myself (of course i had the wife's permission). I love them both and i can't picture myself being vetteless. good luck with you 88.
