Early Wednesday morning a sinkhole opened up under the NCM in KY.  Doesn't look well for a handful of Corvettes in the Sky Dome.  They were able to save the 1983 C4.

Cars Damaged:
1962 Black Corvette
1984 PPG Pace Car
1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette
1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors
2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” on loan from General Motors

Wow, was there in '11 for a visit the year I got my GS and there were stories of other sink holes in the area but to hit the museum is a shocker.
Hoping they can recover the cars and repair them. Glad to hear nobody was hurt.

C.

Looks like the black 62 is trying to get out on it's own, but at least the entire dome did not collapse and take it all.

Further reading stated there are other know caves in the area... uh I say time to look for a new location.  What's the deal with all these sinkholes happening lately?!

And to think I was walking around on that floor in the same area just a couple of years ago!

Our third visit to the NCM was during the Corvette Anniversary celebration in 2013.
Awesome cars outside, awesome cars inside.
To me this is truly a tragedy and wish the best to NCM and GM in their efforts to restore these cars to their previous condition.
I am looking forward to seeing all of them again soon, especially that stunning black ZR-1 Spyder.

I have noticed here there are more sinkholes also. I'm blaming it on the farmers and here's why...When I moved to Arkansas you could dig a hole with a shovel and hit water. Now you have to drive a well 300ft in the same spot to hit was as the aquafir is being emptied by field pumps. No water...more air...ta dah...sinkholes. This is just a theory so no one go postal on me :)
