My '84 just got registered in Texas as an antique vehicle.
That's right, in Texas if you're vehicle is 25 years+ it qualifies for antique status.
Benefits include:
$60 for 5 years of registration...including a license plate stating that it is an antique vehicle. (Just sounds strange to me)
No front license plate requirement
No emissions check, just a safety inspection for $14.
Couple that with collector car insurance, now it really doesn't cost me much to own this car

In Arkansas the vehicle has to be 25 years or older. We don't have state inspections nor front plates nor emissions tests on any vehicle. No way I am putting one on mine in a few years, Arkansas' antiques plates are butt ugly:

Texas antique plates are not much better.

I just don't want to go throught he expense of annual registration and inspections.
Now I'm completly exempt.
You car guys in Arkansas have it made

25 years too here in south Louisiana.
But I pull the plates off and drop insurance every Oct. for hunting season.
Costs $11 to put a 4 year plate, $10. for a state inspection decal that they dont really inspect anything but insurance, DL, window tint, and mileage.

my vette is a 1985 and i live in ma. anybody know when that turns antique
Hope this helps
I know in many states, if you can find a plate from the year of your "antique" car, they will let you register that plate (assuming the number's not still in use) and you can use that plate!
