Has anyone had any experience with 304 highly polished stainless steel covers on their engines. I purchased 2 valve cover covers (no typo that is cover covers) designed out of 304 polished stainless steel and they appear to be a very high quality product. They are attached to the valve covers with velcro and really set the engine off. I was thinking of buying the air intake system highly polished covers and a few others and  I was wondering if anyone had any experience with leaving these covers (valve cover covers and air intake system covers) on, driving your vette and not worrying about them coming loose or coming off. The covers are well engineered, well built and look really awesome on my engine as they even come with 5.7L/ LT1emblems. I am very impressed! Covers are available on eBay.

As Requested my friends...sorry for the delay. This is the drivers side. The reflection off the valve cover cover is the rafters of my garage, sorry about that but its 7 degrees outside or I would have taken the car outside. What Ya Think?

Hi,

I have the same stainless steel "cover" covers you have and I think they are great!  I've got a few other pieces of stainless steel under the hood and plan on adding a few more (not too much though).  I've got some chrome pieces under there too and I'll tell you, I think the stainless looks better and resists scratches better too.  I've even got a stainless tag surround and rear tail light covers.  I've been nothing but pleased with them all.

What color is your C4?  It looks Black Rose Metallic like mine but I wasn't sure.

Mine is Dark Purple Metallic, 95 vintage. Don't see many around in this color. I really like the look and durability of the Stainless Steel compared to the chrome (so far).

Black Rose Metallic is the Corvette name for it but you're right, it's dark purple.  Good to know there's another one out there.  I haven't seen another one in my area either and I belong to 2 of the 3 Corvette clubs in my area plus we do a lot of car shows.

I bought most of my stainless from Vette Works International.  Besides the Valve cover covers, I put stainless on the air filter top housing and it's knobs. I'm gonna cover the ECM w/ the vented cover and just to balance out the look, I'm gonna cover the radiator expansion tank. I've got chrome caps on just about every cap under the hood. The one bad thing about Vette Works International is that you can't order online but they are very polite and helpful on the phone and I've always been very please with their products.

We have 3 Vettes (the 94, a 63 split window coupe and a 2013 coupe). I know we're going to Bolling Green next year for the Corvette Caravan but I haven't decided if I was going to take the C4.  Might be a good chance to find another like me. ;)   Will you be going?

I plan on adding the stainless steel to the air intake box and locking knobs. I wanted to add the section over the intake convoluted duct but there are several hoses with 90 degree fittings at the ducts sides and I am concerned about the metal chafing the hoses or restricting flow so I will leave well enough along. I have been buying all my polished stainless steel covers off of eBay and the quality is great. Interesting what you say about the color...my window sticker identifies the color of the exterior of my car as " Dark Purple Metallic". I call it port wine as it is more of a dark port wine color. But yes you don't see many in that color. As far as Ky...we are discussing it. I would love to make the trip. If so I will be looking for you.

I was using the Member map and found another of us in Jackson, MS which isn't too far from me and he calls his Dark Purple Metallic also.  That's so funny to me but doesn't matter, they would still be beautiful if you called them MUD!  LOL
Wonder if it was a dealer thing or a factory thing?  The world may never know.

As a side funny, while using the map above, I noticed there are 4 Vette registered with this site on the Hawaiian islands, one on the Big Island and 3 on Oahu.  This struck me as incredibly funny because, if you've ever been to either island, they are some of the slowest driving folks around!  I was in a rented mini van chomping at the bit to just DO the speed limit muchless exceed it!!!  But there are really good straight stretches for speed and lots of great winding curves to hug on the Big Island. I spent my whole visit wishing for any one of my cars.

Be sure to post pics of any updates you make.  I'd love to see how they go together.  I never put much thought into how much work has to go into detailing a C4 for a car show.  Once that hood opens up, you have to clean everything! Even the tops of the tires!

Hope you had a great Easter and I look forward to finding you next year!

Cheryl
