mine is the same as joel's non--flashable as it is still obd-1. i understand about all the mods and your tuning did.

little bit more explanation might help here. joel may remember i was having a lot of problems with the car after i bought it. it was a "challenge" for me as i never worked on a computerized car except for basics. after a lot of hair pulling and acquiring info from a number of sources i managed to get the car running half-way decent.

i was told by someone that was checking the car out at a cruise night and said the injectors were not the originals. as i tried injector cleaner and even did the cleaning that the car runs off the cleaner they seemed to me to keep fouling up. midamerica listed the 24# injectors for my car (and they were "on sale") and bought them. it was after i bought them i found out that the car calls for 22#. i called and asked and was told it would be ok to use them. i installed them and they preformed fine.

did you ever meet bubba? he must have owned the car before me as there were a lot of things that were installed backwards (gaskets) a vacuum hosed patched with electrical tape (which i didn't find until i changed the injectors. i guess you get the picture. as i never worked on  fuel injection systems either it was kind of new to me but understood the t/b let the air in and opened that up. took me three days to clean it up with all the build up in it. afterwards still had a problem with low idle and could feel sloppiness in the throttle body. i bought a new t/b thru ecklers which was 52mm instead of the origianl 48mm. it seemed that everywhere i looked thats all they were selling. car ran great after these two replacements.

technically it was done not to soup up the car but to get the car running right. i did have a problem with it running rich and thats when fic told me about ruining the c/c and saving money by not wasting gas.

the accels that i put in to replace the injectors that were in the car were the 24# injectors. after seeing the cruddy work that was done previously i have no idea what the ones i took out were rated.

i will be ordering a set of 22# injectors ( soon) as it appears that 24# is not ok to run the car off of. as for the 52mm t/b, i dont see a problem with that as i was always taught the more air is better (as long as it doesn't go to extremes).

if anyone knows someone that can use a set of accel 24# injectors let me know. a fair statement would be that they only have approx 1500-2000miles on them.Big smile

thanks for your help and anymore info is always appreciated.Thumbs Up

Sounds good...if you do get the #22 from FIC, Jon will walk you through any problem you have...after I was done installing mine, he did a follow-up  call to me...just as a customer service.

Be sure to list your #24 injectors in the "for sale" forum here...keeping in mind that a lot of cars are stored until the weather clears, but a lot of work is being done while these cars are stored.

it will turn on and off your cooling fans at a pre-set temperature Typically, the 160 Degree Thermostat is installed with the THERMOMASTER chip because the chip turns on the fans at 171 degrees and turns them off at 162 degrees (plus or minus a degree or two , depending [/QUOTE]

Who in the world told you that?  The Hypertech Thermomaster chip in no way turns your fans on at those temperatures. I have one and my fans still come on at the same pre-set factory settings. I have talked to Hypertech before I installed my chip beacuse I had a question about this very issue.

it may be the chip you had as they had a couple different chips. i had the high performance chip and my fans came on at 160after i installed it. i took the chip out for a different reason and fans then came on at the regular temp.
