Periodicly the display on the speedometer will flash SYS and the Security light will flash. It causes the instant mpg to go to 99. The majority of the time the Service ASR light comes on and stays on. The SYS and Security lights will flash, then stop. They repeat this several times and then stop.
Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to correct this?

Could be a ground issue either in the cluster itself, or one of the harness grounds at the engine.
Have you tried to scan for any codes that may be popping up?
There may also be an issue with the BCM/CCC(body control module/central control module) or it's wiring, as that is what controls the lights/info on the display.
Intermittent electronic stuff is a major pita to diagnose...
I would start with scanning for ANY codes, and go from there...

Check battery, alternator and/or their connections.
I had a battery ready for retirement, and the sys also started flashing.
You have multiple computers showing lights like abs and asr, it can be those computers getting too little power to do their job.
Disconnecting a stock bose radio also causes the sys light to flash...
Just a thought...
