Fellow C4VR members I need some advise. I have found a 1996 CE with an LT4 showing 16,800 miles. This is a 2 owner car. Carfax and Auto Check shows no issues. I spoke to the previous owner who is 70 years young and he said the car had become impracticle for he and his wife. The asking price is 19,900. If I can get it for 17,800 what do you think? Thank you in advance !! **UPDATE** First off I would like to thank everyone for their assistence on this !! Everyone involved helped me spend the $17.8K
. To answer a couple of the questions in the post: the tires are only 4 months old and have less than 500 miles and all weather stripping is in great condition. She is now sitting in the garage under cover and awaiting my return. I've not personally seen her yet other than photos. The wife saw her when she was delivered and says she looks great (even the wife likes her
). In 17 days and a wake-up I'll be behind the wheel of my first Corvette, my childhood dream car
. Guys thanks again for everything !!!

best thing to do is to check kellys blue book and nada for their estimate on what the car is worth for at least a rough estimate on value. of course sellers don't have to go buy that.
the seller being 70 probably knows his price will be tried to be negotiated and may have raised the price a bit.
after checking the value you can decide how much the car is worth to you. when i bought my 90 the book said it was worth about 6k and the guy wanted 7k. he would only deal down a couple hundred but the car was in good condition (plus i wanted it) so i bought it.
his car looks sweet and i hope you can make a deal with him to get it. good luck.

If the car runs, and everything operates properly, it's a good deal. The pics look really nice, and the car looks like it has been well taken care of. Average prices for nice LT4 CEs is around $20,000.
Look for any issues that could allow you some bargaining room, such as tires that need replacing, bad/torn/damaged weatherstripping, oil leaks, etc.
Good Luck! It looks like a sweet Corvette!

If it was a red convertible it'd be PERFECT ! Seriously though, it looks beautiful. Best of luck and let us know how the dealing went

Custom.
Buy it, now.
That's a sweet looking ride and it's identical to mine! If it's as good as it looks then I'd say go for it as the low mileage is a definate asset. Check the age of the tires though. Generally anything over 5-7 years old should be replaced for safety. That might give a bit of "wiggle room" with the seller but if not, I don't think you'll go too far wrong with it.
Please let us know how you get on.

Looks like a winner to me. I have a CE vert. LT4 with many more miles on it than this one, and it has never given me any problems. CE's should hold up their value much better than others especially with the LT4. '96 was the best of the C4s.
