  When I purchased my used 1996 C4 the seller gave me some weather Stripping that he had not installed. Weeks later I started that project and what a disaster. It was all new, the mounting holes lined up but it was too thick everywhere. My doors would not close, the weather Stripping was hitting in the upper door jams. The window molding was cut a little different and I could not put the target top back on. I removed it all and put the old Stripping back on until I could get some answers.  Has anyone had this issue?

Just a guess, but it is possible that, although the weatherstripping is for the right generation of Corvette, it might be for the wrong model year, as there are some differences.

I have replaced most of the weatherstripping on my 1995 Coupe, purchasing the parts from one-or-more of the recognized parts suppliers for Corvettes;  once you have the correct parts, the most difficult bit of the installation will be cleaning up all of the old factory glue in the areas where glue was used.

Dave,  The prior owner may have bought the wrong year stripping and there are no part numbers on this stuff. I don't want to go through this wrong fitting stuff again so I am looking at stripping from Zip Corvette and it is pretty expensive.

The sad truth is that weatherstripping for these cars is very expensive from any of the suppliers.

Here is a list of suppliers that I have used in the past (with apologies to any I might have missed);

Corvette Central, Ecklers Corvette, ZIP Corvette, Mid America Motorworks, Summit Racing.

You might want to visit all of these sites, and any other bonafide sites you can find to compare pricing;  lots of choices as to materials which does affect the pricing.

Good luck with your project,

Dave

Dave, I noticed you didn't mention Amazon. Just kidding but this is possible what the prior owner bought trying to save money. Amazon has a whole kit for$120, you can't even buy one piece at the other suppliers you list for $120. I am only guessing this is what I have but it makes you think why one is so much cheaper than another.
