What do you have in mind for your C4 this winter?

Projects?

Storage?

Driving?

My plan is to watch the '85 continue to hold the driveway down, and the '74 to hold the garage down....🙄

Understand that!  My C4 Z07 will be occupying a similar spot in my garage;  the surge/expansion tank in the cooling system has developed a slight leak, and I will wait until warmer weather to fix it.

To all, have a great holiday,

Dave

My 1995 C4 is pressed into service 365 days a year. It is not only my "fun to drive" car, but it is also my primary transportation. I drive it to and from my office every work day and to the RC flying field (two model airplanes will fit in the back of the coupe) on flying weekends.

I have Continental Extreme Contact all weather tires on it that provide reasonable traction all year round. With the moderate to heavy snow falls that can be part of a suburban Chicago winter, I'm glad the 'vette is equipped with an effective traction control/anti-skid system (which is often put use).

Conservative use of the throttle in wet or snowy conditions (and good all weather tires) results in a C4 that can be driven and enjoyed throughout all four Midwest seasons.

I was bitten with the Corvette bug when at the tender age of 17, a neighbor let me drive his prized C2 coupe.  It took me nearly 50 years to finally be able to have a Vette of my own.  It is my primary transportation/daily driver and it would make me go crazy to walk into the garage and see it sitting up on blocks under a cover.  I bought it to drive it and by golly that's what I am going to do.

When my Corvette club friends talk about "winterizing" their car, I tell them that they should have ordered it with the secret "All Weather" option, that includes such special items like windshield wipers, water resistant finish, gaskets at doors and windows, heater/defroster, traction control and all season tires.  They look at me like I'm crazy and maybe I am but at least I am having fun driving.  I have driven it in the rain, wind, snow and ice but as long as you keep your head screwed on correctly, it is as safe as any other car.  Yeah, the odometer is getting ready to turn 100,000 miles, the paint is a little faded in places and the leather is starting to crack on the drivers seat but as I tell them, Vette and I sure have fun playing in traffic!

Great that you use it back in the 60's vetts were on the road all winter here in New England my friend had a 1963 convertible with 2 4 barels and a mild cam I believe. The idle was music to my ears. He put on 2 snow tires and never got stuck oh a little weight in the trunk and all was good. I drove my 1968 PLymouth Furry Convertible 383 with Hurst Shifter all winter they were Primary transportation back then.  It took me until I was 72 to buy my 1988 C4. Thinking of trading in my 2014 Turbo Sonata for a 3 year old Mustang Gt which I would drive when not using the vett. My friends say you can not drive it in the winter bull snow tires and common sence which many drivers do not have and I will be fine.  Have a safe and Merry Chrismas!!!

Morning,

My 93 Z07 recently developed a "service ride control" light.

I am working on diagnosing and repairing that system...and videoing the process. Ill put the video on youtube once complete...should be helpful to other FX3 owners.

While im working on that, im also putting the resistor in to defeat the airbag idiot light...bonus content in same vid!

Cheers,

Chris
