Not a thing wrong with the 85 year; first year with the L98. Some of the die hards think the later year c4's are the best, some think the early ones......it really comes down to a personal preference.

No major "problems" from being an '85 model at all. For sure, the later cars got the improvements that come from R&D, and feedback, but the '85 itself is a good car. Later cars simply have the benefit of updates and improvements. Same as any other vehicle.
Of course, a LOT of the early cars were beat to death while new, and then scrapped, or wrecked beyond repair. With over 50,000 of them produced, there's still plenty out there.

Cool. It was always a dream of mine to have a Vette. My husband gave it to me for our 5th wedding anniversary. According to the mechanic, it had been sitting somewhere because mice ate the wires. The inside was redone, new seats, carpet, etc. All looks new. I still can't figure out how the wires were eaten by mice and the interior looks brand new.
After some TLC, new timing chain, harmonic balancer, valve gaskets, oil pan gasket, master cylinder, plug wires, she is sounding good and riding even better.
After reading another blog, my wheels are not '85 and I think they are on backwards.
Anyway, here she is. I love my Vette

Your car looks great as do all corvettes, maybe some bias here... lol.

Glad to see and hear you have fulfilled a life dream, I think most of us here are like that.
You are right about your wheels. From the picture you posted, they look to be off a 89 corvette. And the front one is back-wards. Also, the 85 had 16 inch wheels, and these, if indeed off a 89 would 17 inch. No big deal, but I would swap your fronts around so all 4 are the same. Have a look at the tires, if they are unidirectional, they may need to be swapped as well.

brian is right about the wheels on both points. the only thing is that they might be 16". 17" were a 90 but i believe you might have been able to get them as an option on the 89. IMO, the 16" tires give a "softer" ride.
great looking ride and the best of luck with it

btw.. i think joel may be a little prejudiced about the 85s

Actually, those wheels were introduced as an option in the 88 year. Came with the z51 / z52 packages. Then were standard on the 89. Only two years they were available......and they are 17 ".
I have an 88 vert with the same wheeels.
