Help!!!! I'm trying to locate a lugnut cover key for the 17" factory wheels for my 88 convertable. Ordered a set from Eckler's, not even close.

I went through the same thing last month when I was buying new tires for my '89 and had zero luck (I'm assuming we have the same wheels that were used in 88 & 89). I searched all over the internet, a couple of tire shops in my area and 2 GM dealers. The local Goodyear dealer was able to use a screwdriver and hammer and slowly got each one loose and never touched the rim (I watched like a hawk). I took the bolts to a local machine shop and had a slot cut on each bolt head so removal is now done with a flat head screwdriver. I primed and painted the heads with silver rustoleum to protect the bare metal. End result, no damage, looks great and I can get the covers off anytime, and now I don't have the goofy tool in my console

I'm not sure the early cars are the same but the lug nut wrench (3/4") fits right on the lug nut covers on my "96. Be very carefull to tighten to little more than finger tight or the plastic covers will split. Dave
