as i posted before i took the car to inspection and they failed it for the e-brake so i have been going nuts trying to figure it out.
no real adjustments like there were on pre 88 models in the cable. i had replaced the brake pads while the car was in the body shop and figured that maybe they were the problem so i put in another set of pads. still nothing.
as i tried to save a few bucks when i did the brakes i didn't touch the rotors as they were not scored and there was what i felt too much space when installed so i figured maybe they were worn too much. so i replaced the rotors (which if i was smart i would have done it with the pads) and still nothing.
this morning i went out and jacked up the back of car and took both wheels off. brake cable was moving freely and holding on the passenger side. drivers side wasn't. so i figured maybe the piston was stuck and i removed the caliper. i put a bucket under it to catch any brake fluid and when i d/ced the brake line no fluid came out. took the line out of the junction tee figuring maybe the rubber hose went bad inside but was unobstructed.
so now i figure there must be a blockage in the line so i disconnect the line at the master cylinder again with a plastic container to catch any fluid and no fluid comes out. had my grandson come out and step on brake and nothing still. took off the master cylinder and blew a little air threw it and fluid then came out. so i figured maybe some dirt got in it. put a little fluid in it and pumped it and fluid was squirting as it should. replace it on the car and fill it, step on the brake and nothing. turns out the master cylinder is bad.
replaced it about two years ago and pedal was holding that's why i never thought to check it. went back to auto store to get a replacement as it had a lifetime warranty on it. will have it tomorrow, pm and hopefully this one will last longer.
