[SIZE="3"]UPDATE:

Believe it or not, I still haven't gotten the chance to install the brake kit yet, but maybe  it's been for the best since I just picked up and added another "upgrade" - Clap

The original slotted rotors that came with the front brake upgrade were both stamped "Made in China" - which really bothered me... Angry

It's getting harder and harder to find ANYTHING that's not made in China these days.  You almost can't escape it.  I probably wouldn't mind as much, if was like, a rubber grommet, or an interior screw or something, but bottom line is, when it comes to something as important as BRAKES, I'm not going to gamble with my safety or the safety of other drivers on the road with a no-name Chinese-made rotor.

Anyways, I picked up a pair of Baer Eradispeed Plus rotors.  They're a 2 piece design, cross drilled, slotted and zinc plated, so they're not only lighter weight than the single piece China rotors, but the zinc coating should keep them from rusting out any time soon...

I went with Baer once again for the rear.  Same 2 piece, cross drilled/slotted zinc plated rotor style as the fronts, but 1" larger in diameter over the stock rear rotors (13" v.s 12") to even out the look once everythings on the car.  Smile

Also picked up Hawk HPS Pads for the rear as well...

Granted, these 2 piece rotors are quite a bit more than than the single piece rotors, but their quality is immediately apparent over the Chinese stuff.

Proof once again, that you really get what you pay for! Wink

Now all I have to do is buy new wheel bearings for all 4 corners, since now would be the time to replace them since the brakes have to come off anyway.  Already found a place that sells "USA made" bearings and rest assured, I'll be spending the extra money on them to keep my Vette as "All American" as I can. :flag:

Oh, and then there's the new, deep dish, chrome ZR1's (17x9/17x11) wrapped in new Kumho Ecsta XS tires (275/315) I added, to finish things off nice. - My old ZR1's were starting to look, ah, "old" LOL

What was your total cost for parts? Since I have already done my brakes, how much are the rims by themselves?

The wheels I picked up for $739 (USD).  The place I bought them from also carry a polished version and ones that are painted black and have a machined "lip".  You can get either of those two for less than the cost of the chrome if chrome isn't your thing...

The brake upgrade I picked up on sale for 20% off regular price.  Cost was about $720 (USD) which included powder-coating the calipers red (it's optional).  I believe regular price was/is around $860 or somewhere in that area.

My brakes work just fine, don't get me wrong.  I'm not replacing them because I feel I "need" bigger brakes.  Believe it or not, as crazy as this might sound, I'm more interested in the over-all "look" of these brakes more so than their improved braking .  The C5 rotor's are larger and fill in the wheel much more than the smaller C4 rotors and the bright red powder-coated calipers and Corvette logo really go a long way to help "clean-up" the look of the car and make it look more modern.  The ZR1 wheels reveal so much of the brakes behind them, that the stock rotors and plain-jane calipers kind of detracts from the look of the car.

If I were still using the factory saw-blade wheels, I probably wouldn't even bother since they hide most of the brakes anyway.  But with ZR1's...

Anyways, I hope the install goes smooth.  Hope to do it all next Wednesday as I have  the day off from work that day.

I'll will post pic's and review the brakes themselves when all is said and done.

Stay tuned. Smile

Hummm, I feel much better about the job I did on mine... I agree with you about the looks though...I went with the drilled and slotted rotors, Ceramic brake pads, and the air foiled caliper covers.

i have the saw blades on mine and like them. when the car was repainted we painted the slots black as it will make the brake dirt less noticable. everyone that have seen them think it was a great idea. when money is flowing better i would like to get them refinished. next important thing is tires for it.

I have the original saw blades for mine but they are not in very good shape. I have been thinking about having them polished out and then having the insets painted Polo Green to match the car. That would look really nice and there is something to be said about having the original equipment on the car. I like to modify things just enough to make it mine, but still keep it as close to original as possible.

I use to do truck shows and I did a lot of add ons to my trucks. I always got tons of compliments about how much the add ons looked like they came that way and were suppose to be there all along. That is always my goal, anything I mod should look like it was suppose to be there all along.
