When rotating the tires on my '86 Coupe, I had a difficult time on two of the lug nuts.  When I finally got them off, the stud threads were damaged as well as the nuts.  They were not cross threaded.  I have never had a problem with studs on any of my cars including my C1 Corvettes.  What could cause this?  Is the quality of the studs bad these days or could it possibly be a corrosion problem? Have any of you had this problem with early C4's?

haven't had this on my vettes but had problems on a couple of othe cars. one was from a shop that used too strong of an impact wrench to put on lug nuts. had to heat them to remove and bent two lug wrenches. may be some one did the same to yours.

Wire brush the threads and always apply Never-Seez. If you live in the "Salt Zone" it's a must.

FWIW every car we own gets anti seize on the wheel studs after the first tire rotation.
