The lumbar membrane could also be ruptured.  I saw a post somewhere on another forum that mentioned an economical fix.  I'll try and find it.

I just rebuilt both of my lumbar support units.  The problem I had, was the little membrane, that is screwed into the pump motor cracks, and no air will come through the tubes.  Ecklers sells the repair units at a reasonable cost.
