I need a little help here. I have to pull airbag and steering wheel to change turn signal switch, I'm told it should be a torx head screwdriver on backside of steering wheel to remove airbag. Does anyone know what size I might need? I haven't been able to get my hands on a decent service manual for my 1992. As you know there is no way to get your head in there to see, gotta love your corvettes when it comes to working on them

A few random thoughts:
Service manuals don't call-out wrench or tool sizes.
I've "looked" at lots of things I couldn't "get my head in there to see" with a mirror.
I'd be more concerned with knowing how to "safe" the SIR before messing with it than the size of the screws.
Working on cars presents challenges. Corvettes are nothing compared to some European marvels of engineering. /sarc. It takes me over 2 hours to inspect/change the two (!) engine air filter elements in my associate's Porsche Cayenne. Its a wonderful driving car, but a nightmare to work on. I had to purchase a $300 program for my laptop to reset the service reminder after an oil change. A C4 you do it with your fingers. Corvettes are easy in comparison to many contemporary vehicles.

I know how to disarm the airbag and pull the steering wheel it is not a difficult procedure, but I do not have every tool out there and a complete torx set is one of them. The question was posted as a quick reply as in # 27 would save me a lot of time then I would know which one I would need to get or possibly borrow from the neighbor. I do not have the luxury of just running to the store to pick up the tool I need when I need it, I just live to far away from a big center.

1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
I can't find any specs on what size the screws are on the bag, either. I would think they would be either a #27 or #30 Torx bit....but I'm not sure. It's possible they are smaller, but without actually looking, I couldn't say myself.

Be sure to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes or so before playing with the airbag to disarm the system. Corvette airbags can fire for some time after loosing power thru the DERM.
I have removed mine several times, but don't remember the size. It is easy to determine the size by trial and error. Always face away from the airbag and place it face down when working on the other parts.
