I've got the 1990 Bose cassette radio and the main display light has gone out, so I cannot see the time or radio station I'm listening to.  Has anyone else dealt with this and is that light easy to replace?

I have the same problem with my Sunfire. You will probably find you can see the display when the sun shines directly on it. Apparently, the LED's that backlight the display are not working but because it's not worth fixing the Sunfire, I haven't had it looked at.  I expect any competent radio shop should be able to repair it for you though.

IF the stereo plays right, and the stations change ok, but you only have the problem of not seeing the display, chances are the illumination bulb(s) is burnt out. There are small bulbs behind the display to back-light it, much the same as the digital dash display on the Star Wars dash clusters of the early cars. You might be able to disassemble it and replace the bulbs yourself. I have on other types of stereo heads, but not on the Corvettes.

Would you happen to know if the back light bulbs are needing to be soldered in or just a plug and play style?

I've never done one of the Bose heads, so I couldn't say for sure. I think they are prolly soldered in tho. I do happen to have a Bose head out in the garage I could check, but it would be this weekend before I could get the time to look.
