Hi Folks
A friend and I just finished replacing the original window regulator on my 84 with a newer OEM unit for the 86 or newer C4. It went fairly well using the installation directions I found on Zips. The only glitch was that the drill holes weren't where the mounting bracket was. We fixed it by placing the regulator in the door and bolting the 2 top bolts and then marking one drill hole from the inside. After drilling that hole the 2nd hole was 78 mm away just as the directions said.
It was a much better unit than the original and well worth the effort. Doing it myself (with a lot of help) probably saved at least 3 hrs of labor at a shop.

This is one of those "one of these days" upgrades I'm planning for the '85. Good to hear it's not as bad as I dread it being!

The plastic strip and 2 replacement rivets can be had at ZIP but I know it is available elsewhere for about $20-$22. The other advantage to the newer regulator besides reliability is the faster operation. I understand the ribbon system is pretty slow.
