Hey Guys: Noobee here since last month, Got the info at Carlisle in August and this is the first chance I've had to post. Here's what I'm up to: Replacing the heater core in the '92 coupe. I'm amassing a large amount of pics and when I get a chance I'll have them available to post if any one is interested to see what a PIA it really is. A member on another forum described the process as attaching a string to the heater core, hanging it from the ceiling and then building the car around it. When the tires are put on the string is then cut and the car is then driven out of the factory. Seems to me to be a  pretty concise description of the process after having gone through the process on my '93 Coupe twice. It had 260K on the ODO when I sold it in August. The unmistakable smell of Prestone made me notice the '92's heater core was leaking coolant on the way home after I traded my '96 Imp SS for the low mileage '92 Coupe. 37 K on the ODO. The young couple had a Miata and the Vette and wanted to start a family, they needed a 4 door car and I needed another Vette, I couldn't pass this up.

I put in a "block off" on the return and supply hoses, flushed out the heater core, Bought the heater core and enjoyed the car for two months. During which I'd also worked on the A/C refit to   R-134, put in a set of 8 K HID Fog Lights, I also acquired at Carlisle, I don't use the headlights any more.

Turquoise91, if you want to give yourself a break, stop by on your trip to FL, I'm right off 270 S about 15 miles North of 495/95. We can plug the Tech1 in just to be sure that check engine light is still a code 32 - EGR and not something else. That said I just got word last night that an old friend had passed and I will probably be heading to Toledo, rolling right through thinblue's and redvette89's stomping grounds, some time next week but I expect to be around for the next two or three days trying to work on the heater core, but work will interfere for a few hours in between just like it has for the last 10 days !

I really don't welcome the opportunity to spend 3 days caged in a Toyota Sienna minivan with my sister, with no visible exit strategy other than waiting for her to decide when to stop, which will be about every 2 hours. I prefer to gas up, point the nose north and hit the hammer, fuel up when the tank's low and repeat until destination has been reached.

Eddie, unfortunately I'm not heading northeast any time soon although there is talk about a November Bike run to Pat's or Gino's for cheese-steaks. I'll keep you posted.

Allan B in TX and Joel in TN, it's just not in the cards for any road trip in those directions.

I've accomplished to contact everyone in front of eddie's original post with an intro and update, gonna spend a few minutes on the '92 now as I don't have to be in the office till High Noon today.

Keep the shiny side up Guys and be safe.

Larry

Isn't it kinda hard to get to Toledo Ohio without coming thru Tennessee? Or is this one of those songs where you go through "OMAHA"...?    Wink

Just replaced the Y-pipe exhaust on my '86 Coupe.  After 25 years, it finally rusted through right at the split.  Sounded great though before I replaced it.  The new one was not cheap, but it fit perfectly.  The only problem was getting the mufflers (replaced 10 years ago) off the old pipe and getting the new pipe to fit in the muffler inlets.  Makes me wonder sometimes why I am in this hobby.
