it is amazing that everyone's c4 is working perfectly.i know on the c3 site there are either questions posted or everyone is discussing what they are doing to their car or what they plan to do. sometimes it will give others an idea of what can be done and how to do it.
and sometimes the chit chat will be how great it was just driving the vette with the roof off. let's hear from everyone. dont be afraid to start a post or answer one.

I just love driving my car. The handling is superb and the feel of the power as you accelerate is a thrill. One doesn't have to floor it of course and even with a gentle throttle, one can still feel the car move.
I think that the manual transmission is a must on a Corvette as the automatic ones would be like just riding in one as opposed to driving the car. The manual puts you in control of the car not the other way around. Now, if you have an automatic equipped car, that's ok but I like to choose when I shift etc. A manual isn't for everyone of course because of one reason or another but in a traffic delay on the highway, an automatic is a blesing for sure!
I don't see a lot of Corvettes up here in Toronto and the ones I do see generally not C-4s but they are still part of the family.
While my first choice is a standard transmission, my C4 has an automatic. May I respectfully suggest that I very much drive the car, not ride in it. I can typically choose when to shift by just feathering the throttle a bit. So it is not as boring as I thought it would be. One plus for me, I have big feet (size 14 ex-wide) the automatic gives me a bit more room around my feet which makes the car more comfortable. The C3 is the last of the basic Corvettes. You can easily tune the car with a dwell meter, timing light and a screwdriver. A reasonably competent mechanic can re-build the car. My C4 is a '94 so we won't discuss distributor replacement! Sadly, my '74 was junk the day it was built. While I loved that car, the general quality is consistent with the times. I miss the raw feel of the '74, especially the change in the engine note when all four barrels of the Q-jet were wide open! It did have a 4-speed with a Hurst conversion. The C4 so much better than the C3 in terms of just about everything, speed, ride handling, fit, finish.....
I haven't driven mine in over a week and I do miss my drive to work ---i'm in the process of installing a radio/CD and nav. unit and the interior is partially dissasembled---I had to modify the factory front speaker boxes for the 6.5 speakers --not really difficult, but it is time consuming ( you guys that have done it know what I mean )---I'm hoping to finish this project this weekend or next depending on how many "chores" i get talked into
---hopefully once i get it complete and driving again-- i'll be sporting one of these
again !

Hey Eddie, you can't include me in the "it is amazing that everyone's c4 is working perfectly" group. I love my '89 Vette but I'm a ways off from getting it to the condition I'm working towards. It has almost 150k miles on it and looks great and for the most part runs well. I just keep trying to get it better and constantly find myself chasing down the next possible thing that needs attention. I'm the 2nd owner and bought it 6 years ago. My brother-in-law was the original owner and while he was religious about changing the oil and filter. he drove it hard, real hard. Someday I should make a list of everything I've done to it as long as my wife never sees it...... hehehe
We've had lots of beautiful weather this year in northern Ohio and driving around with the top down is pure joy
Take care, Dave
We've had some great weather lately (Philly area) and driving with the roof off, or on, has been great. Did some top end engine work over the winter and just did rear gear upgrade, so it's running strong and I'm enjoying the heXX out of it. While I agree that a manual tranny adds to the fun factor (nothing like banging thru the gears), I have a A4 and have no complaints.
I love driving my Vette. Nothing can explain what it feels like to sit behind the wheel and work the gears on a nice sunny day with the top down. It took me 27 years to fulfill my dream but it was worth every minute dreaming about it.
Let me explain my situation. I bought my 95 vette in 2003. Few years after, I bought my house and two kids were borne. So, I have to spend lot of money for house and kids. In Japan, to have a license plate and drive a car on the public road, we must pay a tax around $1,000 par year, so now, my car doesn't have a license plate and can't be driven on the public road for this 5 years.
But I'm still a member of some corvette community here in Japan, also am having fun time with my vette friends.
Sometimes I get a problem with my car, then I try to fix the problem by myself. In that kind of situation, the forum is extremely useful for me to get hint and tips.
It's still hard to me to post my question in English, but I hope I can do so someday.

sorry to hear about it costing a lot to drive the vette. it's great that you try and fix it yourself. if you need any questions answered we are always glad to help.

The weather at the Jersey Shore has been great the last few weeks, and driving with the roof off has been a welcome treat given the lousy winter and really no spring to speak of.. After all this time, I still just love driving my vette... Those who have never driven or owned one just don't understand, but for those of us who do, we get it....
