Certain year models will have different "common" issues, such as the early LED dashes going out, power window failures, automatic climate control problems, etc. There isn't really any one year that has more problems than others, but they all will have some issue or another. Granted, the later cars are "newer", and a little better designed/built, but those will have issues sooner or later, as all vehicles do. I doubt that there was ever a Corvette built that didn't have some kind of problem(s).
That being said, I've had several problems on my '85, but most of what I've been thru has been due to neglect, as it sits for long periods of time....

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 CE Coupe
Our '90 ZR-1 had just 7,500 miles on the odometer when we purchased it in the  fall of '06.  The first major expediture was for a set of tires as the originals were very hard as well as checked and cracked (bagged and kept the originals for the next "caretaker" of the car).  The Bose sound system has some problems that we have not addressed yet, but then who needs a radio in a Corvette anyway...???  I replaced the lower radiator hose as it was leaking a bit (should probably replace all the other hoses as well).  After just a few miles of driving the engine developed a miss which was cured by replacing all 16 of the fuel injectors (I was told it was not a matter of if the originals would fail but when they would fail).  And in a pre-road trip service checkup it was discovered that the A/C condenser was shot so had that replaced and the system converted to R-134.  While on the road trip the oil pressure sensor failed so replaced that (major heart attack watching the oil pressure fall to zero when we were miles from anywhere!).

Other than those few things "The Beast" has been a joy.  Joel is right tho' (HATE sayin' that Wink ), every car has issues of some sort.  Some just have more than others.

I refuse to answer cause my car (39K) somehow reads these posts and will get pizzed off and create problems if I say anything bad about her  Rolling On The Floor Laughing
But I would replace your hoses as a burst one can cause your opti to die a horrible and expensive death.  And your fuel filter if it's original.

I have an 84 and it has 118,000 miles on it. It is weather worn. I hooked it up to a computer analyzer yesterday and it has no error codes. It was surprising to me that a car this old still runs perfectly. I just sold my other 2 vettes recently and they were plagued with issues.

So far so good on this one.

I did forget, this 84 does need control arm bushings. I hope that's not too hard of a job!!!

Two thoughts on your "poll", number one is that the NEWEST C4 is now 14 years old,  how long to you expect a car to last with "No Problems"?
My second observation is that by looking at forums such as this you only see posts from people with problems, those who have none never come here until something goes wrong.

You're most likely to have an issue or two with any used vehicle.  But you've come to the right place to ask questions and find answers.  Most likely someone throughout this site has or knows someone that has had the same or similar issue and can answer any of your questions.  Another good source would be a local Corvette club in your area.  AND yet another excellent source is Gordon Killebrews' tech site at GordonKillebrew.com, check it out too.  Enjoy the ride.

I've owned my '96 close to 3 years--when I bought it AC was inop and PKE didn't work--which helped me to purchase at a very good price. Roughly 2 months after i bought her the water pump took out my opti. All of the troubles have since been fixed along with many upgrades I chose to do, both for performance and appearance. At this point in time I have no problems(knock on wood) and I'd jump in her and drive across country. Overall she's been very dependable. These cars in their day were/are fairly advanced  technology wise and I expected to have some issues--I now have about 78K on the odo. I've learned a lot by working on her (part of being a Vette owner) and it's helped me to "bond" with her. I love my C4--another Vette will likely be in my future but i have no intentions of parting w/my C4. This C4 is like a part of the family nowHeart

PS....I also feel many Vette owners get WAYYYY over their heads in repairs/performance mods--spend a bunch of money (throw a lot of parts at it) and then can't get the car to run right. All at once the car becomes a POS with nothing but problems. Dirty Harry said it best "A man has got to know his limitations"--unfortunately many Vette owners don't!

Vette(s): 1985 corvette. silver/gray. Car was repainted, engine rebuilt, and transmission rebuilt spring of 09
I have a 1985 with 122k on it.  She currently has no problems at all.  I did recently repaint, rebuild the engine, and rebuild the transmission.  (Engine and transmission were not broken, just worn.  Paint had some scratches and chips.)

Hello all,

I have a 1988 convertible with just 18,000 miles. Everything is original (except the battery) right down to the perfect condition tires and paint and nothing has been replaced on this car.
