There I was pulling out in front of a semi and my accelerator vanished! The look on my face was probably pretty funny. Thankfully I found it and was able to scoot on down the road before becoming roadkill in a fiberglass case!
Evidently the bolts that hold the vette's acceleraor to the firewall have come out and the pedal is just a swingin' back and forth. We had the pedal assembly out when we put the new carpet in. I musta not have gotten the bolts tight.

It wasn't really that close ( I tend to elaborate to get attention! Smile). But I was really startled.

I bet you had to clean the seat, right? LOL
I hate it when stuff like that happens....I know the feelin, too. Glad it wasn't a major fubar, anyway...it certainly could have been much worse.

is the bolts a comon thing goming loose from the fire wall on an 84 becaues if it is  i'll be useing lock tight the red one.  i don't need that to happen to me. i definitly would have been cleaning my seat among other things to...let me know about the bolts.

Wow. Certainly glad you didn't get smushed by the truck!

That sorta happened to me once. I was in my '79, had to pull out of a gas station.  I saw a car coming, but should have had plenty of time to floor it and get out in front with no problem.  So I did that, however, as I got into the street, me flooring it apparently did something and I lost all acceleration (vacuum issue?) and my car stopped moving.  Fortunately, the guy coming was able to stop in time and I let off the pedal and gave it slight acceleration and was able to move.  But that was a scary couple of seconds!
