I just have a general question since this is the "chit chat" section. This is my first winter season with my C4 and I would like to know if everyone in the cold weather areas of the country prep and store their corvette for the winter months or is it better to drive it when possible ( cold but clear and dry roads) to keep everything mechanical moving and operational. My location is central New York east of Syracuse, lots of snow and cold weather. Just thought that I would get some opinions from the veteran owner/operators. Thanks for reading and any input.

A few quick tips for winter storage....

Check all fluids
Oil change
Top off fuel tank + fuel stabilizer
Dryer sheets in and around the car
Moth balls around garage floor
Put on car cover

Stored in an unheated detached garage:
Start it up & let it run for about 15-20 minutes every 10 days or so.
Pump the brakes a lot & pull it back and forth in the driveway, weather permitting.

You can also cut up some bars of Irish Spring soap, and leave it inside the interior. The critters don't like the scent........(I do and you might like it also) I guess the dryer sheets and the moth balls do pretty much the same. If you stored your baby in a car bag...you could also add desiccant bags to absorb any moisture. Another thing that can be done is; plastic put under the care, where the moisture comes up from.

I have a fan that I keep blowing 24/7 year round under the '74 in the garage. It keeps the moisture down, the floor doesn't sweat, and no surface rust on any of the suspension stuff.....Thumbs Up

I'm outside of Philly and while we don't get Syracuse snow totals,  we get winter pretty hard.  I'll drive mine as long as the roads are clear and no salt. Maybe just once, twice a week to work. It's good for the car and better for my mental health.  She runs good in that cool, dense air, if you get my drift. Wink

I did the same as Joel did. However I would make sure the tires did not sit on the floor in the same position by marking them with tape and moving it every time I started it (about every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks). This way they would not take a set.

I live in Northern New Jersey.  We get bad winters (last year being the exception) but not Syracuse weather.  I don't put the car up for the winter because I want to be able to drive it whenever possible.  You'll be amazed at how well the car performs in cold weather (cold air is more dense).  Of course avoid snow covered roads.  The wide tires make handling a bear and the low front air dam becomes a snow plow if accumulation exceeds 3".  These cars aren't classics and probably never will be so enjoy it as often as you can.
