radiator overflowing

Hi, first time vet owner here having trouble with the coolant going into the recovery tank ,but not going back into the rad. Coolant tank was full this morning .ANY IDEAS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hi, having to much water/coolant on the overflow will mean the system will purge out any excess in level. Are you sure you have a problem?

Thanks , well the low coolant light comes on and coolant will be to the top of the recovery can like it doesn't go back into the system.

Vette(s): 1994 convertible, arctic white, black top and interior. LT1 auto.
Pressure cap isn't allowing backflow?  Leak in the system is providing an alternate flow path to vent the system vacuum on cooldown?

Have you bled the cooling system?  Not sure about an '87, but LT1s need to be bled from 2 points on a cooling system refill.

Replacing the pressure cap looks like a good, fairly inexpensive test.
