Thanks guys. I just brought my first Corvette home yesterday...admittedly, I had taken money out of the bank to buy an '86 Mustang GT and that guy canceled on me. So I was just looking at cars on Craigslist and found this '84 with 162k and a 4+3 for $2300. The guy has owned it for 10 years, but apparently he got in an accident with his other vehicle, and now he can't afford to insure both vehicles.
It needs a few things, mostly paint. But it's super solid, the body is actually in great shape, the interior is fair, it runs great...and it's a very solid Corvette for less money than I was going to pay for a Fox-body Mustang. Drove it 20 miles home last night, and it felt great.
Anyway guys, I gotta go mess with it a little bit before work. I'm sure I'll be on here asking dumb questions just like all first-time Corvette owners in no time. Thanks!

personally i think you will be happier with the vette than that mustang
. sounds like a good deal and that first drive has gotten you hooked. dont be afraid to ask anything as there is no dumb question.
good luck with it.

Yeah, there's definitely something special about the first time driving your own Corvette. It needs paint, the interior is filthy, the radio is hit or miss...but it's a Corvette and it's MINE, haha.
I guess what I'm really impressed with is that every single power option still works. Power seat, mirrors, windows...it all works. The gauge cluster is junk though, but everything else works great.
Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about the guy with the Mustang not being able to show the car. Worked out perfectly for me.

my 75 is a work in progress as well as my 90. when you get something finished it makes it even better. you should have the digital dash. there are i believe 3 sections that you can get off ebay. could be the bulbs are burnt out. friend has an 88 and he just had to replace all the bulbs in his.

The digital dash seems to go in and out. When I started driving the car home, it was flickering...by the time I got home, it was just dead. But it needs new LCDs, mine are pretty sun faded. In between that sentence and this one, I just bought a remanufactured one on eBay for $275 after a core charge. Man I love eBay.
I figure that makes it drivable, paint and new carpets are really the only other things it needs to be a really nice solid C4. I'm looking forward to spending many hours endangering my marriage over this car.

i think they should make a corvette survivors series as most of us have been there with our wives (and still are)
. the only other thing is, you better hope she doesn't take the car for herself.
