Thanks for the welcome Adam. I do have one question. This is a fuel system question. The fuel line that comes up from the fuel filter goes into what I believe is a damper. The line coming out the other side of this to toward the fuel rail. Shortly after I bought this care I thought I was hearing an engine knock. I listened all over the motor and could find no knocking, but when I put the end of the screw drive to ths damper, and listened to the handle of the screw drive the thing was pounding like a crazy. I have the GM service manuals for this car and can not find this part in the manual anywhere. Have you ever heard of anything like this before?

welcome to the site jkusse. glad you are right into using the forum
. on my 90 which is a L98, the line from the fuel filter goes into the fuel rail with the pressure regulator in the middle of it. don't know if the set up is the same on the 92. could it be the pressure regulator

Welcome to C4VR, jkusse!!!
I'm not sure where this part is you're referring to, but it may be the fuel pressure regulator.
Please post the question in the "Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems" forum, so more folks will see it, an hopefully help identify the part.

Welcome "jkusse" to the C4VR

The part you're speaking of above the fuel filter is a" insulator" it's not your problem.
GM had a service bulletin on early production 92 Vettes for the noise you're speaking of---if you follow the fuel lines up a little farther they are attached to the AC Evap. housing. The knocking noise is generated by the injectors causing a hydraulic hammering/knocking in the fuel lines--the early fuel lines were mounted solid and could be heard/felt inside the passenger compartment.
The "fix" was to replace the stud with one using rubber in the middle so the injector pulsations could not be heard--so to speak.
The bulletin is #92-343-6C----Hope this helps

Thanks so much for your reply. I can believe how many people I have talked to about this including the mechanics at a major Chevy dealer in our area. Your description of the knocking noise is exactly what I have been experiencing. Thanks again. Only a member of the registry for one day and already it has paid dividends.

Thanks Vaughn. I appreciate the info

Thanks Jimmy, it has been great being part of this already.
