New Feature! Add Your Corvette Story (1/2)

A new feture has been added to the site called "My Story"!

You can share the story of your Corvette including text & pictures.  Tell everyone how you came to own your Corvette, how long you've owned it, what you've done to it since you've owned it, what you plan to do to it, etc.

You can create, modify and add to your story at any time.

Have more than one Corvette? You can add pictures and text for all of them on the same page!

Just go to "My Story" on the "Account" menu.

You'll find instructions there on how to add your story, see your story, and share your story with the world. 

When creating your story, if you want to add a list of your Vette's info (as in the example below), click the "Insert Template" button on the screen where you'll add your story. (Only available on desktop). 

If you have any comments or questions about this new feature, please let me know!

  I bought my first Corvette in September of 2016 sight unseen as a result of being at the right place (ebay) and time.  It was about 700 miles away, and after speaking to the seller, he agreed to pick me up from a Greyhound station 5 minutes from his home in the coming week.  The car was beautiful, and the sale was quick and easy.  After the handshake, I realized that this was also the first Corvette I had driven.  Ever.  And that it must be in third gear, not first.  After I sunk the lever into the correct postion, I was on my way.

  Now, being that I was in Sacramento, I had some options I was going to consider (a side trip to the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, the California Railroad Museum in Old Town, and the auto museum just south of there, still in Sacramento).  But when I worked my way back to I-5 and was to make the turn south, I saw dust, construction zones, cars crawling in near gridlock, I took the turn north, to home instead.  And then about 20 minutes later, the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light turned on.  I reasoned that things were going really well, and decided to continue.  When I did pull over, it was at a service station, to fill up.  After that, though, I made my way to a shady parking spot in a Wal-Mart lot and that's where I got acquainted with the car.  I checked the fluid levels, bought one quart of Mobil 1, a jug of water, snacks, a funnel, etc. then went to the car and made sure I was doing all I could to continue the trip.  For some reason, that MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) light did go away, but later I found a badly bent set of 5 metal strips inside the connector for the MAF sensor, and I am supposing that's the reason for the MIL indication.  I pulled over, next, in a rest stop and took the roof off, and stored it in the holders.  Now this is California!  A few hours later, as I crossed Shasta Lake, and made the climb up to Mt. Shasta, the temperatures did come back down, but by then I was pulling up to the Mt. Shasta KOA for a night in my tent, which I brought with me on the Greyhound trip.  I realized that night that it is about 4000' in elevation and had a cool night, but I was prepared, but later that next morning drove into Oregon rain anyway.  It was nice to enjoy that California heat, if only for a day.

  I have been slowly dealing with the rough edges -- there have been very few, and realize that this car, with the 4 + 3 Doug Nash transmission and the Z51 suspension is the sports car of the family.  It replaced a horrible MGB and feels much safer, much more powerful, and much more valuable than the British car.  And gets at least the same fuel economy.

  I show it about 4 times a year, and I have talked to a good bunch of people due to the conversations the car starts.
