recently had to replace the battery in the 90 vette. radio was working great before the old battery went kaput. now the radio will come on for a few moments then nothing but static. is this the way the antitheft acts ? if this problem is a result of theft security being activated on the radio - how do you reset the alarm (i have the original owners manual which gives the reset procedure, but the original 6 digit security code was selected by the original owners and we all know they didn't pass on the code or write it down. does anyone know how to reset the radio ?

you might be able to call a dealer, as i think there is a bypass code that can be used. you may have to show proof of ownership.

found a little out of the way car sales and radio repair shop. i didn't really believe this guy could help but i stopped anyway (AMAZING) the guy not only knew how to solve my problem, he took me inside his repair shack and there on his shelf set not one but two radios that matched mine (am-fm-cassette-cd- external amp and bose speakers with the amps. will be taking the vet to him next week he is charging me $35 to get it up and going again. Howard, did radio display show "CODE"? If so, then the anti-theft was set when the battery went dead, and you'll need to have it input, or changed. If not, there may be something else goin on. Hope yer guy gets ya fixed up! Let us know what he does to fix it.
