Just curious, Is the damage around the driver's front wheel well is from a blown tire?
It looks familiar!

Hi Fred,
I didn't ask the previous owner what caused the damage.
The fender vent area is "chewed up as well. That would seem to indicate it was not caused by a flailing tire... but you never know.
I just assumed it was all the result of a parking mishap or during the transporting of the car from Arizona.

Hi there David. I bought my '88 in 2010 and like yours it was pretty rough but the price was great. The paint was good but lots of mechanical issues. I have gone through her as the wallet allowed and she is in pretty fair shape although I fear I will never finish her. When I get one thing done I want to do another./member_uploads/25101_25200/25134/E1FAC_IMG_0946.JPG
This was taken in the garage as its getting ready to snow out. (this one unlike yours doesn't get snowed on and it would be pretty bad with the summer only tires).
Good luck with your find bro. When she starts running it sure is fun.

I'm a bit slow on the response- When I blew out a radial tire it beat up the
entire fender lip, but surprisingly very little damage to the inside liner. It
separated along the outside sidewall and fortunately I managed to get
stopped before the entire tread went, but still did a lot of damage.
Go figure!
Hopefully it is an easy fix.
Thanks Fred

Hi Perry,
Your red '88 does look quite nice. I don't even know if mine will run yet. It just got towed to my friend's place and then my wife and I went to Myrtle Beach for March. I won't get to check it over 'til some time after we return to Ontario in April.
When I purchased the car it was encased in snow and ice. Couldn't even get the doors open. Took a chance and made a very low 1/2 price offer which should be safe enough... even if I just have to "part it out".

Hi Fred,
Once I can get back to the car and have a good look at it, I can do a little "forensic" examining to see if it looks like it was thrashed by a failing tire. The tires on at present only have a very few hundred miles of use.
Thanx, David
