Has anyone installed HID lamps in your C4? Need to know where to position power supply in most convenient place.

I put a set on my 96. They were too cool watching those arcs strike on the table at Carlise. High beam/Low beam moves a shield to block or uncover a reflector, the arc doesn't change (of course like dual filaments)! I picked the light blue range, purple was just too much! I got them with extended wiring and the small ballasts.  In the end I mounted the ballasts and most of the wiring inside the head light bucket attaching the ballasts to the sides and tie wrapping the wiring out of the way.

Given the bigger draw, I decided to run the power and ground out to separate connections, independent of the OEM circuits. The problem was getting the wires out through the center of the pivot like the OE wiring. Turns out GM choked the hole and I had to remove the whole thing and to grind the hole full size to get the additional wires out. The only plus was the nylons were dirty and needed lub. They wouldn't have lasted and the motors were being unnecessarily loaded, (not good given their fragile nature.) I already had an accessory fuse block added and created a new ground point.

Everything works great. But I used the same light housings that I had already changed to the Euro style, ie lamps insert from the back. I have yet to change to the special housing with the focusing lens. Lots of light at night particularly on high beam, as advertised, there is light way beyond anything else. Mine might be a tad high because I got flashed a couple of time not that I see much night driving anyway. I don't have any pictures at the moment but I need to take some next time the covers come off. Good luck

Thanks for the input. At least I know it will work. Did you have trouble installing the lens housing? The ones I have are a little loose around the holding frame. If you have pictures, that would be a great help.

In the 1st, you can see the red and black wires coming out the left side pivot & better in the 2nd. The ballast is installed on the outside (under the cover) and most of the wiring tied inside. Incidentally, I replaced the outer cover screw clips with tapped aluminum stock held with two sided automotive trim tap and attach the covers with ss button head hex machine screws for a neater finish. You can just see it above the ballast. I don't use the blue daytime running light although I had considered using if for additional working light.
